R. Gene Brown
Managing Director

Through a diverse academic and business career, Gene Brown brings a well-rounded perspective to PHB's clients. For the past twenty years, Dr. Brown has been an independent investor and consultant. He is nationally recognized for his expert testimony regarding damage claims and causation, including the impact of management performance on those matters. He has provided testimony in the largest patent infringement case in U.S. history, the second largest antitrust claim, the highest alleged copyright infringement action and CanadaÕs largest-ever damages trial.

After serving on the faculties of the graduate schools of business administration at Harvard and Stanford universities, Dr. Brown became vice president of corporate development for Syntex Corporation and then president of Monterey Life Systems, Inc., and Berkeley Bioengineering, Inc. A founding investor of Advanced Micro Devices, he remains on its board and chairs its audit committee.

Dr. Brown, a Certified Public Accountant, holds a B.A. in accounting from San Diego State College; an M.B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley; and a Ph.D. in finance, management, economics and accounting from Ohio State University. He has authored or co-authored four books and numerous business management articles.
