Stephen S. George
Director
Stephen George has more than twenty years of experience assisting electric and gas utilities in the areas of strategic and marketing planning, demand-side management program development, market research and energy demand modeling and forecasting. He has analyzed a wide variety of program and policy options, estimated the energy and demand impact of demand-side alternatives and devised multiyear research and policy strategies. He also has directed studies to help utilities better understand customer preferences and improve marketing effectiveness.
Recently, Dr. George has focused on assessing and improving a utility's products and services to enhance customer and shareholder value. He has also helped utilities to address the organizational and cultural challenges they face as the industry becomes more competitive and to develop restructuring policy positions on distribution system unbundling, information access and affiliate access rules.
Dr. George was formerly vice president of XENERGY Inc. and of Charles River Associates, and he was an analyst in the Demand Assessment Office of the California Energy Commission. He holds a B.S. in economics from Santa Clara University and an M.A. and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Davis.
