
An expert in the energy field, Mr. Hanfling has managed venture capital funds and advised major corporations and new companies on business development, strategic planning, operations and mergers and acquisitions. He was the court-appointed trustee of the Colorado-Ute Electric Association bankruptcy and negotiated the successful resolution of this multibillion-dollar matter. As deputy undersecretary of the Department of Energy during the Carter administration, Mr. Hanfling negotiated several major international agreements, managed joint government-industry projects and testified about a range of energy and financial issues. He returned to the DOE at the start of the Clinton administration to assist in the reorganization of the department and developed several major initiatives. Mr. Hanfling is currently chairman of the Secretary of EnergyÕs Advisory Board.
Mr. Hanfling received a B.Ch.E. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an M.S. in nuclear engineering from West Virginia University and an M.B.A. in international trade from the Baruch School of the City University of New York.
