William J. Michiels
Director
William Michiels specializes in the financial and economic analysis of contested business issues. He has extensive experience with the requirements of the AICPA, IRS, FASB, NASD, SEC and state insurance departments and expertise with mergers and acquisitions. His assignments have related to many industries with emphasis on various aspects of the insurance and securities industries. As an expert witness he has testified on damage calculations, business and asset valuation issues, complex financial and tax transactions, accountantsÕ professional responsibilities, regulatory compliance issues, topics related to business failures and other matters.
Prior to joining PHB, Mr. Michiels was a principal of Freeman & Mills, Incorporated. Freeman & Mills and PHB combined their consulting practices in 1994. Previously, he was both a tax and an audit partner at Coopers & Lybrand, where he also conducted business valuation and litigation service assignments.
Mr. Michiels is a Certified Public Accountant. He holds a B.A. in economics from Claremont McKenna College, an M.B.A. with a specialization in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a master's in business taxation from the University of Southern California.
